The first Butterfly Farm in Saint Martin opened its doors to the public in 1994. It is also called La Ferme Des Papillons because of its location on the French-side of the tiny dual nation Caribbean Island of St Martin/St Maarten.
Loterie Farm is probably the only example on St. Martin of a private nature reserve. At Loterie Farm, they have made it their business to protect all 54 hectares of this beautiful countryside set deep in the interior of the island.
Located on the east coast of the island, the offshore area of the Nature Reserve is delineated by a triangle that starts from Anse Marcel, passes east of Tintamarre and ends at the entrance to the Oyster Pond lagoon.
Rising from the center of St. Martin at a height of 424 meters stands Pic Paradis, the highest point on the whole island.
The zoo and botanical park on Sint Maarten is the largest zoological park in the Caribbean. See hundreds of mammals and the finest display of exotic parrots in the Caribbean. Visitors can also enjoy other species such as reptiles, monkeys, squirrels, ocelots, bush dogs, golden lion tamarins and capybaras. You will find a remarkable collection of animals living in reconstructed habitats.
