The Punda Museum opened its doors on December 1, 2014. Created by Jorge Cuartas, born and raised on Curacao, and having lived 30 years in the Netherlands, Jorge returned to his native island and was struck by how little people knew about the neighborhood’s important history. The main exhibit "La Boutique del Caribe" demonstrates the economic activity in Punda circa 1900 to date as illustrated through photographs, memorabilia, slide shows and scale models. See Punda’s restoration and transformation and the grandeur of its architecture. The guided tours offered by the museum are given daily in English, Dutch, Spanish and Papiamentu and are a must as they explain in greater detail the history of Punda. Regular admission is $8, and private tours are $12. For children under the age of 16, admission is free (but must be supervised by an adult). Museum hours: Monday to Saturday 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
