Many artists living in the Caribbean are inspired by the vivid colors in the tropical settings, ubiquitous palm trees, sandy beaches, azure waters, market scenes, indigenous fauna and plant life, it's people, the architecture and the pretty Creole homes that mark the landscapes...and of course, not to forget the attraction of a laid back Caribbean lifestyle. One way to find out why these artists are so inspired is to visit the 11th edition of the Art Lovers' Weekend where the main exhibition will be held in Grand Case Cultural Centre. Opening night visitors are encouraged to socialize, meet some of the artists, sip cocktails and enjoy the works of art on display. The highlight of the weekend is the opportunity for the art-loving public to view the many talents of the exhibiting artists. It's also a chance for them to visit the artists studios and galleries during the open house. A free art lovers' map with the artists location and phone number is provided for anyone who is interested, so visitors can call and visit the artist all year round. Visits are usually by appointment only. The weekend is not just about paintings, of which there are many different styles, but other genres as well, such as ceramics, wood marquetry, sculptures and photography. Make a point of visiting and prepare to be moved and amazed.
